What's usually still in the house

The pile at a move-out is predictable. The couch that didn't fit the new place. The mattress and box spring from the guest room. Ten or fifteen contractor bags of stuff that got sorted at midnight. Flattened boxes and the ones that never got flattened. The pantry: the cans nobody wanted and the spice rack. How Jeremy loads a move-out

Jeremy shows up inside the one-hour window with the pickup and the trailer. He walks the place once and matches it against the photo. Big pieces go on first so the bags and boxes fill in around them. A pile already staged in the garage or at the curb is the quick version, and quick is cheaper. A pile still spread through the apartment is fine too; he'll bring it down. A third-floor walk-up in Sugar House gets carried down flight by flight. A basement unit in the Avenues with a narrow side stair is the same deal, and the $25 stairs add-on covers it. If there's alley access behind the fourplex, he backs the trailer in there instead of blocking the street. Property managers and HOAs sometimes have rules about where a trailer can sit or what hours loading is allowed. Mention that when you text and he'll plan around it, including buildings downtown that want the loading dock reserved ahead of time. Where the load ends up

Usable furniture comes off the trailer first and goes to donation, and a move-out pile usually has at least one piece worth trying. Metal and cardboard get pulled for recycling, and so does the fridge if one's coming along. The old TV rides with the load. Bagged trash and anything broken go to the landfill. The sorting happens at the trailer, so nothing needs to be separated before he shows up.

What Jeremy won't take on a move-out

Move-outs turn up the same few problem items, and those stay behind. The half-cans of paint under the laundry sink. The cleaning chemicals under the kitchen sink. Jeremy doesn't haul paint or chemicals, and nothing else that counts as hazardous waste. Salt Lake County's household hazardous waste program takes those, and it's worth the stop on your way out of town. Hot tubs stay too. So does anything that needs a shovel: rock, gravel, bricks and dirt. If the last owner left a stack of pavers by the fence, those stay. Pavers are bricks. A few chunks of broken concrete can ride along sometimes. A whole busted patio can't. Everything else in the pile, from the couch to the fridge in the garage, goes. If something's borderline, put it in the photo and ask. He'd rather tell you now than leave it sitting on the curb.
