You won't find a price list on this page, and that's on purpose. Junk removal is priced by how much of the truck your stuff fills, and no two piles fill it the same way. What you will find is exactly how Jeremy figures the number, so the price he texts back makes sense before you say yes.

The numbers Jeremy will tell you up front

Jobs start at $100. That covers a single item or a small pile, and most single-item pickups land right there. From the minimum up, the price is set by how much of the truck and trailer your pile fills, which is why the photo matters more than any chart.

Three things add to the number, and he says so before he starts: a flight of stairs adds $25, a mattress or box spring adds $40 each, and a fridge or freezer adds $25 each. Mattresses and freon appliances cost more to dispose of, and stairs take longer. Everything else is in the one number he texts back, and it does not change once the truck is loaded.

Space on the truck is the main thing

Jeremy runs a pickup and a wood-sided utility trailer. The price is mostly about how much of that space your stuff takes up. A single chair is a corner of the bed. A couch and a mattress is a good chunk of the trailer. A two-car garage is the truck and trailer full, maybe twice. That's why a photo works: he can see the pile and know how it'll load.

Where it is and how far it has to travel

A pile at the curb or on the driveway loads fast, and that's the version Jeremy likes best, because less carrying means less time and a lower number. A pile in a basement, up a flight of stairs, through a narrow side gate, or at the back of a storage unit takes more trips to the truck, and that time is part of the price. It doesn't have to be outside, though. If it can't be, he comes in and gets it. Mention stairs, long carries, tight parking, or a locked gate when you text and the number is right the first time.

The three add-ons

Three things cost extra on top of the load. Refrigerators and freezers at $25 each and mattresses and box springs at $40 each, because both cost more to dispose of than regular junk. And a flight of stairs at $25, because it takes longer. Each one is quoted up front and included in the number. Nothing else carries an upcharge.

What isn't in the price

There's no hourly rate, so a slow job doesn't cost more than the quote. The price Jeremy texts is the price for the whole job, upcharges included, and it doesn't grow once the truck is loaded. If the pile has grown since the photo, send a new one before he heads over so the number covers all of it.

How to get the number right the first time

• Fridges, freezers, mattresses, or box springs in the pile, since those carry the upcharge
• The date you need it gone by

The city's option, and when it's enough

Your city's bulk-pickup page has the next date and what its truck takes. If your stuff fits that list and can wait for the scheduled date, use it. Jeremy is for the pile that isn't on that list.

Ways to keep the price down

The price tracks space and time, so anything that shrinks either one helps.

• Break down boxes and flatten the cardboard
• Pull out anything you're keeping before he arrives
• Gather everything into one spot, ideally the driveway or the curb

• Book the whole job at once instead of two small ones
