A storage unit is a monthly bill for things you haven't looked at in a while. When it's time to stop paying, Jeremy meets you at the facility, loads everything that's going, and leaves the unit empty so you can turn in the key.

It works like any other job. Text a photo of the open unit to (801) 557-1063 and you get one price for clearing it. Keep what you want, point at the rest, and it goes on the truck. Usable furniture and household goods go to donation, metal and cardboard get recycled, and only the real trash goes to the transfer station.

What's usually in there

Storage units hold a little of everything: the furniture from an apartment that got smaller, boxes from a move that never got unpacked, a mattress and box spring, the treadmill, a dead TV, holiday decorations, and the file boxes nobody wants to open. Jeremy takes all of it. The only things that stay behind are hazardous items like paint, chemicals, and propane, which have to go through Salt Lake County's household hazardous waste program instead.

Inherited units are common. If you've taken over someone else's unit and don't know what's in it, send a photo of whatever you can see from the door. Jeremy can price it from that and sort the rest as he goes, setting aside anything that looks personal or important for you to look at, the same way he handles an estate cleanout.

Meeting at the unit, or not

Most people meet Jeremy at the facility for the first few minutes, open the unit, say what stays, and leave. If the facility lets you share a gate code and the unit is unlocked, he can do the whole job while you're at work and text you a photo of the empty unit when he's done.

Give him the unit number, the gate hours, and anything the facility requires, like signing in at the office. Some facilities keep short access hours, and he'll work inside them. If you'd rather be there the whole time, that's fine too.

Beating the next bill

Rent is due on a date, so the cleanout usually is too. Say what that date is when you text. Jeremy's open 24/7, and he'll tell you straight what he can do. A standard unit is typically one trip. A packed 10-by-20 or 10-by-30 can be a full truck-and-trailer job, and that's in the price you get up front, not a surprise at the end.

Where it goes

Storage units are full of things that still work, which is why donation comes first. Furniture, dishes, and household goods in decent shape go to a local donation center. Metal shelving, appliances, and cardboard get recycled. What's actually trash goes to the transfer station. Anything that looks personal (photos, documents, a box of someone's letters) gets set aside for you instead of loaded.

Business units too

Shops and offices rent storage for fixtures, old inventory, files, and the desks from the last office. Same process as a house: text a photo, get a price. Jeremy can work early or late inside the facility's hours, and he'll give you a receipt for the books if you ask.
