A basement cleanout in Salt Lake City is the job nobody wants to do alone. Everything down there has to come up a flight of stairs first. Jeremy carries it up and out himself. The couch that never made it back upstairs, boxes from the last move, storage bins, a treadmill, the carpet from a remodel. You point out what stays, and everything else leaves.

The whole basement gets one price, set before anyone lifts a box. Text a few photos of each corner to (801) 557-1063, or ask for a walkthrough if it's a big one.

Anything that looks like it should be kept gets set aside for you to check before it goes on the truck.

  • Couches, sectionals and recliners
  • Dressers, bed frames and mattresses
  • Treadmills and other exercise equipment
  • Storage bins, boxes and shelving
  • Old carpet and pad
  • Fridges, freezers, washers and dryers

The full list of what goes on the truck, and what doesn't.

What comes out of a basement

Basements collect the heavy stuff. Furniture that was too much work to carry back up. A sectional from the last house. Dressers, bed frames and a spare mattress. Shelving units full of bins. Old carpet and pad after a finish-out.

Jeremy takes the full mix: furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, boxes, bags and loose clutter. He won't take paint, solvents or other hazardous waste, hot tubs, or anything that needs a shovel. Set the hazardous stuff by the stairs and it stays behind.

The stairs are the job

Most of the work in a basement cleanout is the climb. Jeremy carries every piece up himself, so nothing has to be staged at the top first. Stairs add $25 to the price, and he says so before he starts.

A mattress or box spring adds $40 each, and a fridge or freezer adds $25 each. Those are the only add-ons. How the price is set.

How a basement cleanout gets priced

Cleanouts are priced on truck-and-trailer loads, so the real question is how many trips. Photos of each area get you a real number, and a walkthrough works for bigger basements. A full basement can run a day or need a second trip, and that's in the price you get up front.

To bring the price down, pull the keepers out first, move what's going into one area, and break down empty boxes.

Where a basement load ends up

Usable furniture and household goods go to a donation center first. Metal and appliances go to a recycler, and so does the cardboard. Only the real trash goes to the landfill.

The garage too, or the whole house

If the garage is part of it, garage cleanouts have their own page, and both can go on one visit at one price. A whole house is an estate cleanout. One piece on its own is a single item pickup.

How the price works

Text a photo of what needs to go to (801) 557-1063. Jeremy looks at how much room it takes on the truck and texts back one number for the whole job. No hourly rate, and the number doesn't change once it's loaded. Jobs start at $100. The only add-ons: mattress or box spring +$40, fridge or freezer +$25, stairs +$25. He tells you before he starts. Jeremy shows up

He does the carrying. It doesn't have to be at the curb, but if the pile can wait there or in the driveway, it's quicker and cheaper. The truck leaves full and the space is yours.
