Furniture removal in Salt Lake City

Old furniture is the job nobody wants. It's heavy, it doesn't fit in the car, and the garbage truck won't touch it. Jeremy takes couches, sectionals, recliners, dressers, bed frames, dining sets, desks, and office furniture out of whatever room it's in, stairs included, anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley.

If a piece is still in good shape, it doesn't get thrown away. Usable furniture goes to a donation center before anything goes near a landfill.

Couches, dressers, and everything that won't fit in a car

The usual list: sofas and sectionals, sleeper sofas with the steel bed still inside, recliners and loveseats, dressers and nightstands, bed frames and headboards, dining tables with all six chairs, hutches, desks, bookshelves, filing cabinets, patio sets. Mattresses and box springs too, with a $40 upcharge each.

Jeremy does the carrying. He'll take a sectional apart, walk a dresser down a basement staircase, and get a sleeper sofa back through the door it barely fit through the first time. If a piece has to come apart to clear a stairwell, that's part of the job, not a surprise on the bill.

Donated first, hauled second

Clean, working furniture has a second life waiting for it in the valley.

Not everything qualifies. Jeremy sorts the broken and the worn-out onto the trash side of the load, so the torn recliner and the wobbly bookcase ride there, and that's fine. Anything with real metal in it (a bed frame, a filing cabinet, a glass-and-steel patio table) gets recycled rather than buried.

Where the rest goes

Furniture that can't be donated or scrapped goes to the landfill. It's an errand with a truck you probably don't own. That's the part Jeremy takes off your plate.

What makes a furniture pickup cheaper

Price is about truck space. A couch is a couch, but three bags of cushions, a broken lamp, and the rug underneath add up. Pull anything you're keeping off the piece before he arrives. If the furniture is already in the garage or out at the curb, say so in the text; that's the version Jeremy likes, since less carrying keeps the number down. If it's still upstairs, that's fine. He'll come get it. Send everything in one photo set, because one trip is always cheaper than two.

You don't have to be home, either. If the piece is in the garage or on the porch and the price is set, Jeremy can grab it while you're at work.

The whole set goes in the photo

The couch goes. So does the loveseat that matched it, and the two end tables. If the bed set is going, put the dresser in the photo. If something in the same room is staying, say which piece, so it doesn't get counted.

The box of hangers from the emptied closet goes on the trailer with the dresser. So do the picture frames that came off the wall.

When it's a whole house instead of one room, that's an estate cleanout.

How Jeremy loads it

Drawers get emptied or pulled before the carry. A full dresser is a much heavier lift than an empty one, and a filing cabinet with the drawers still in it is the heaviest piece in most offices. Glass tops and mirrors come off the dining table and the dresser first and ride flat on the trailer.

On the trailer the tall pieces, the dresser and the hutch, go on first and stand against the front. The couch goes on its feet or its back behind them, and the chairs and end tables fill in the gaps. Cushions ride in a trash bag on top so nothing blows out on the drive to the donation center or the landfill.

A recliner weighs more than it looks because of the steel mechanism under the seat, so it gets loaded before the light pieces. A power recliner has a cord and sometimes a battery pack; unplug it and leave the cord with the chair.

How the home changes the job

Jeremy pulls up with his pickup and trailer and backs it as close to the door as the driveway allows. Say if the driveway is steep or shared. The door the piece leaves through decides the rest. So does whether it clears the frame on its side. If the side gate is too narrow for the patio couch, it comes through the house, and a clear hallway makes that quick.

A basement couch or an upstairs bedroom set is the same length of carry, and either one adds the $25 stairs fee. In a townhome the living room is often a flight above the garage. The couch goes down the stairwell and along a hallway narrower than the room. If the furniture is only part of what's in the basement or garage, that's a garage and basement cleanout.

Apartments and condos add an elevator and a loading zone. Put the unit number and where the trailer can park in the text.
