Junk removal in Murray, Utah

Murray sits in the middle of the valley, with I-15 running straight through it and State Street through the old downtown. The houses range from older places near downtown, with the full basements that come with them, to newer neighborhoods. It's a fast trip from Jeremy's base in Midvale, which makes it one of the easiest cities to schedule.

As of September 2026, the city's own help is a roll-off dumpster you reserve for your driveway and green waste trailers residents can book from March through November, yard waste only.

Estate and downsizing cleanouts are common here, and Jeremy treats them carefully: anything that looks like it should be kept gets set aside, usable furniture goes to donation, and the rest gets hauled. Paint and chemicals stay off the truck; as of September 2026, the city sends residents to the county's household hazardous waste collection center, the Salt Lake Valley Landfill, or the Trans-Jordan Landfill.

Typical Murray calls: a basement cleared for a sale, furniture swaps in the Fireclay apartments near the Murray North station, garage cleanouts around Murray Park and Grant Park, and office cardboard from the businesses along State Street near Fashion Place.

How Murray's Neighborhood Dumpster program works

• Neighborhood dumpsters must be placed on private property.
• Sign up for a neighborhood roll-off or a green waste trailer on the city's Dumpster Reservation site.
• 2026 schedule by zone: Zone 1 in May, Zone 2 in June, Zone 3 in July, Zone 4 in August, Zone 5 in September (reservations for Zone 5 began Monday, August 3). Zone 5 is the last zone this year.
• The east side of the city on the 2026 map is Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District territory, outside the city's zones.
• A 30-yard roll-off can also be rented through the city for general debris and residential clean-up.
• It usually goes in the driveway; it can go in the street only with Public Works approval.
• One dumpster per household every six months.
• Residential use only; businesses and commercial contractors are excluded.
• The dumpster sits entirely on private property and cannot block sidewalks or roads.
• Not allowed: hazardous or flammable materials, chemicals, paint, motor oil, gasoline, tires, batteries, or too much concrete.
• Concrete, railroad ties, rocks, dirt and sod together may fill only a third of the dumpster, about two feet.
• Fridges and freezers need the Freon removed by a licensed technician and a tag.
• 55-gallon drums are OK only with the tops removed or cut in half.
• No overloading: nothing above the top rim or hanging over the sides; overage is left at the home.
